Privacy Policy

Memory Match is a children's card-matching game for ages 3–8. We designed it to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar child-privacy rules: no tracking cookies, no advertising SDKs, and no cloud accounts for kids. Gameplay and family photos stay on the device unless a parent later chooses a feature that requires otherwise.

1. Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the Memory Match mobile apps and web (PWA) experience (the “App”), (“we,” “us”). It is written for parents and guardians. Children should use the App with a parent nearby.

2. What we do not collect

We do not sell children's data. We do not run ads. We do not use third-party analytics, social SDKs, or tracking cookies. We do not require a child to create an email, password, or social login to play.

If a feature would need to send information off the device, we will ask a parent first and update this policy before turning that feature on.

3. Information stored on the device

The App is offline-first. The following may be stored locally on the device you control, using the device’s storage (for example LocalStorage or IndexedDB):

Gameplay progress — completed grids, moves, times, and a memory-index trend used by the parent dashboard.
Child profiles — first names or nicknames you type so siblings can switch profiles on the same device.
Settings — accessibility options such as high-contrast mode and voice readout.
Custom photo cards — photos you capture or upload, cropped for matching. These stay in IndexedDB on the device and are not uploaded to our servers.

Uninstalling the App or clearing site data for the web version typically deletes this local information. We cannot recover it from a server because we do not hold a copy.

4. Photos and the camera

If you use the custom photo card builder, the App may request camera or photo-library permission. That access is used only to create matching cards you choose. Photos are not scanned for identity, not used for advertising, and not shared with other users or companies.

You are responsible for only uploading images you have the right to use, and for avoiding photos of other people's children without permission.

5. Parent dashboard

The parent dashboard shows completion speed, games played, difficulty, and memory-progression charts. Those metrics are calculated on the device from local gameplay. They are meant for the adult who holds the device — not for a public leaderboard or school roster unless you later opt into a feature we clearly describe.

6. Cookies, ads, and third parties

The App does not set tracking cookies and does not include external advertising SDKs. The promotional website you are reading now is a static page. If you contact us through rohanmorris.com, that site’s own contact form and hosting apply to that message.

Fonts may be loaded from Google Fonts when you visit this website. That is independent of the child's gameplay in the App.

7. Offline play and Service Worker

A Service Worker may cache game assets on the device so the App can run without a network connection. Cached files are for gameplay performance, not for tracking the child across the internet.

8. Permissions

Depending on the platform, the App may ask for:

Camera or photos — only for the optional custom card set.
Audio output — for flip, match, win sounds and optional text-to-speech.

You can refuse optional permissions and still play the default Animals theme.

9. Children under 13

Memory Match is directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for our own servers. Parents control the device, profiles, and any photos. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through a contact form, contact us and we will delete that message from our inbox.

10. Data security

Because most information never leaves the device, the main safeguard is the security of that device (passcode, OS updates, who can unlock the phone or tablet). We do not operate a children's account database for the MVP.

11. Your choices

Uninstall the App or clear browser storage for the PWA to erase local data.

12. Changes

If we add online accounts, cloud backup, or any collection of children's personal information, we will update this policy, notify parents in the App, and obtain any consent the law requires before that collection begins.
